Posting this on behalf of the wonderful :iconjamberry-song: :

"As you all may or may not know, the childhood home of French Revolutionary Louis Antoine de Saint-Just in Blerancourt, France, which has operated for some time as a museum devoted to Saint-Just and the French Revolution, was struck by a devastating fire in June of 2012. The roof of the building, and some of its support beams that date back to the 18th century, were severely damaged. Much of the museum's lower floors suffered smoke and water damage as well.

To see the effects of this tragedy was heartbreaking. So a bunch of us French Revolution fans have teamed up to start a group called the Friends of Saint-Just ( friendsofstjust.tumblr.com/ ) and have launched a small etsy shop to raise funds for the museum: www.etsy.com/shop/TheFriendsof…

It is a rolling fundraiser. Items are added to the shop as we can complete them. The museum's president, Anne Quennedey, has informed me that the museum will be looking to take the funds and any donations starting in February 2013. Our initial goal at the Friends is to raise at least $100 for the museum. ( If you would like to donate or find out more about the museum, you may send an email to the Association for the Preservation of Saint-Just's House: asso.st.just@gmail.com. They accept emails in English if you do not speak French. Or you can send me a note and I will pass along the information they have provided to me so far.)

We are looking for ideas for more shop items. Currently, our offerings are very modest. If you have an idea, or if you are willing to donate any items to the shop, please send me a note. If you wish to donate funds to the cause, you may also send me a note and I will give you the details about making a donation via PayPal.

Thanks so much for your support!

Please take a few minutes to check out both the Tumblr site and the Etsy shop - it's completely worth it. This DA group has definitely grown in size over the past few months, and I'm sure we can all pull together and do our bit our help. Thanks guys!

:bulletblue: :bulletwhite: :bulletred: VIVE LA REVOLUTION! :bulletblue: :bulletwhite: :bulletred:

Welcome to Vive-La-Revolution; a group dedicated to art and literature based on that crazy, radical time in European history we know as The French Revolution. Whether you're an avid historian, a keen ameteur, or just want to browse our art, everyone is welcome within the group.

This is a place to share art, opinion, interest, historical knowledge and of course, historical humour - we are, after all, history nerds!

We don't have many rules here - we want you to enjoy the group to the Max-imilien (geddit) - and those that are in place have been created to ensure the friendliest and best possible enviroment for everyone. We hope you have a great time with the group - if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to message me - I'll do my best to help!

...

:bulletgreen: Joining :bulletgreen:

Anyone is welcome to join the group, regardless of age, gender, religion or political views... the list goes on. Just click the 'Join Our Group' button and 'voila'!

:bulletblue: Conduct :bulletblue:

We want to maintain a friendly, helpful environment within this group! For this reason, we ask that you do not use threatening language or offensive comments. We have a three strike system - after that, you will be removed from the group. We don't want another Vendee rebellion.

Si vous souhaitez rejoindre le groupe, s'il vous plaît appuyez sur le «Join» bouton.

:bulletorange: Submission :bulletorange:

We welcome art of all kinds - traditional, digital, photography, literature - whatever you want, darlin'! However, please only submit work that is clearly linked to the French Revolution in some way. Upon submission, your art will be reviewed by the admins to check that it is submitted to the correct folder and is appropriate to the group.
Please ensure that your work is YOUR OWN. As Robespierre once said; "Pity Art theft is treason."
Please note that we do not accept...
- Slash/Yaoi (This is a group for historical interest rather than innapropriate images/writing. More than anything, we want to keep this group clean, innoffensive and respectful of the past.)

- Please sumbit all works to the 'Featured' folder. I'll then copy them into the correct subfolders, which hopefully will make searching for specific art easier! In effect, your art will be in both the 'Featured' folder, and a subfolder. Any questions or issues with submission, please don't hesitate to let me know! Don't stress if you find that you've sumbitted to the wrong place - we'll take care of it for you.

WIPs are welcome! Its always lovely to see someone's progress, and be able to offer support and motivation. Feel free to sumbit your works-in-progress - you can either update the same deviation, or add a new one (in which case the previous one will be removed to save confusion (and space!)

Nous acceptons toutes sortes d'art - la photographie, l'art traditionnel, art numérique, de l'écriture; toutes sortes! Cependant, il doit se rapporter à la Révolution Française. S'il vous plait soumettre l'art à la dossier «Featured».

I'm so glad I found this group! I have been left wondering, though... How long until Saint-Just gets a group of his very own? :squee: (sorry aheh)

I bet the revolution was only started because the French people were jealous of how pretty and awesome Marie Antoinette was.

So many people were jealous of the wealth, luxury and beauty of Queen Marie Antoinette ... and hated her Austrian birth .. and she seemed to rule of the king

And the people had nothing while she got everything she wanted.

Marie Antoinette has the finest of clothes, jewels, perfumes while the people starved. Plus there were rumors of her wild sex life, orgies with men and women - lots of pamphlets and tabloid press about her sex life and luxuries.
